The performance and touring crossover
Yamaha’s 2027 FX Limited SVHO sits near the upper end of its WaveRunner range, where performance and equipment are expected to coexist. The name identifies the manufacturer’s supercharged Super Vortex High Output engine, but the rest of the package is distinctly concerned with touring comfort. It is intended for a buyer who wants responsive engine performance without giving up a larger platform, seating and storage for longer days on the water.
The manufacturer’s international specification lists a supercharged 1,812 cc four-cylinder engine, three-person capacity, a 70-litre fuel tank and 168.3 litres of storage. The craft is 3.58 metres long and has a published dry weight of 431 kg. These numbers help explain why it belongs in a different category from the compact JetBlaster: the FX has a more substantial footprint, more equipment and a different set of ownership implications.
A supercharged engine deserves careful consideration. It can deliver an exciting response, but output is only one part of choosing a craft for open water. Wind, sea state, passenger comfort, fuel planning and the operator’s skill will often determine the sensible pace. Prospective owners should also expect performance machinery to have maintenance requirements that deserve a proper explanation from the selling dealer.
Equipment intended to earn its place
The FX Limited SVHO is fitted with a seven-inch Connext touchscreen that provides riding information and connected functions. Yamaha describes audio control, phone integration and navigation readiness within the FX system. A screen can help the rider organise information, but the availability and operation of mapping functions should be verified for the chosen market. Dedicated marine navigation and a proper passage plan remain important when travelling beyond familiar waters.
A factory audio system, cruiser-style three-person seat and adjustable steering help distinguish the Limited version from a more basic machine. Yamaha also lists a wide reboarding step, multiple storage areas and useful deck features. The point of these details is not simply a longer equipment list; they can reduce frustration when taking on passengers, stopping for a swim or handling small items at a berth.
RiDE enables forward, neutral and reverse control through the handlebars, while electric trim and cruise-related functions support different riding conditions. Those systems should be demonstrated before delivery, particularly for a first-time owner moving from a small recreational PWC. The combination of high power and a substantial hull can be manageable, but it does not excuse poor lookout or ambitious docking attempts in crowded water.
Deciding whether the Limited model is worthwhile
The most useful comparison may be with Yamaha’s FX Cruiser SVHO or FX SVHO rather than a small entry-level craft. All belong to the larger, high-performance end of the range, and the Limited model is distinguished by its equipment emphasis. Buyers should ask which elements are standard, which are dealer accessories and what the fitted price will be. A showroom display can easily include options that are not part of every market specification.
Storage and trailering are another area where the premium model deserves attention. A 431 kg published dry weight does not include the full fuel load, trailer, personal equipment or any accessories. A towing calculation should account for all of them and be checked against the vehicle and ramp. Owners based in saltwater should also plan their flushing, washing and winterisation arrangements before the first season.
The 2027 FX Limited SVHO is therefore a specialist answer to a specific kind of recreational use: high-output riding combined with a well-equipped touring platform. It will be excessive for some people who only want an occasional short hop, yet attractive to others who frequently carry a passenger and value comfort, storage and integrated controls. A careful test ride, where available, is more informative than selecting on engine figures alone.
