Boat data can move into the app automatically

YachtLINK connects to a spare tee on an existing NMEA 2000 backbone and reads data already being broadcast by engines, tanks, batteries, GPS and other compatible equipment. It then uses Wi-Fi to send that information to the vessel’s YACHTWAVE account.

For leisure boat owners, that reduces the need to type engine hours or tank readings into a maintenance record by hand. The gateway is intended to keep the digital vessel record closer to what is actually happening on board.

The gateway is powered from the NMEA 2000 backbone

The fixed-mount unit draws 12-volt power from the NMEA 2000 network and uses a standard drop cable, so it does not need a separate battery or dedicated power supply. YACHTWAVE lists maximum current draw at 100mA and gives the enclosure an IPX5 rating for below-deck installation.

Initial setup is handled through the gateway’s own Wi-Fi connection and the YACHTWAVE app. Once connected to the boat or marina Wi-Fi network, the device can send readings to the cloud account automatically.

Certification covers the marine network connection

YACHTWAVE says YachtLINK has earned official NMEA 2000 certification and publishes the device’s supported message details. The company also lists FCC, CE and UKCA compliance for the markets where the product is sold.

The gateway is designed to listen to the boat’s network rather than take control of connected instruments. That distinction is useful for owners who want better monitoring without adding another system that can alter helm or machinery settings.

IBEX launch is planned for October 6

The company plans to present YachtLINK at IBEX 2026 in Tampa on October 6. Pre-orders are already open, with YACHTWAVE listing a US price of $249 and shipping scheduled from October 30.

Use of the automated data features requires a compatible YACHTWAVE subscription as well as an existing NMEA 2000 backbone and Wi-Fi connection. For owners already using the platform, the gateway adds a direct bridge between onboard data and maintenance records.
