Tiwal has introduced the 3R Max as a higher-performance development of the Tiwal 3R. The new version adds headsails to the portable sailing concept while retaining the ability to pack the boat into transport bags.
The 3R Max uses a jib for improved upwind performance and a gennaker for more power on downwind legs. Tiwal has also fitted a reinforced carbon mast, a modular bowsprit and revised control lines to support the expanded sail plan.
Portability remains a central part of the design. The builder says the boat can still be transported by car and assembled without conventional boatyard infrastructure, keeping the model aimed at sailors who want performance without a permanent berth.
The launch is a reminder that new leisure sailing products are not confined to 30- and 40-foot yachts. At the opposite end of the market, manufacturers such as Tiwal are continuing to develop compact craft with serious sailing hardware and increasingly sophisticated rig options.
