Southampton show will shorten its 2027 run
British Marine has confirmed that the 2027 Southampton International Boat Show will move to an eight-day format, reducing the event from the current 10-day schedule. The show will remain at Mayflower Park, where the venue has been secured for the next three years.
The revised Saturday-to-Saturday structure follows feedback from exhibitors and is designed to concentrate visitor activity and commercial opportunities into a shorter period. Organisers will still retain three weekend trading days, preserving the high-footfall periods that are important to brands selling directly to consumers.
Major yacht brands are already committing
Fairline, Princess Yachts and Sunseeker are among the companies already confirming attendance for the 2027 edition. Their early commitment gives the organiser a stronger base from which to plan the in-water display, dealer participation and supporting programme.
British Marine says the decision builds on feedback from the 2026 show, where exhibitors reported early engagement and sales. A shorter event can reduce staffing and hospitality costs for exhibitors while potentially concentrating serious buyers into a more commercially efficient timetable.
Show formats continue to evolve around exhibitor economics
Boat shows across Europe are adjusting duration, layout and visitor programming as exhibitors place greater emphasis on measurable sales opportunities and qualified leads. Large yacht brands in particular must balance the cost of moving vessels and teams between multiple autumn events against the value of each regional audience.
Southampton remains the United Kingdom’s principal in-water boat show and an important platform for domestic dealers, builders and marine suppliers. The 2027 format will provide an early test of whether a shorter schedule can preserve visitor reach while improving the economics of participation for the industry.
