A busy helm can become difficult to use when every onboard system needs another control panel. Smartgyro has introduced an integration with compatible Raymarine Axiom displays, bringing supported stabiliser information into the main screen.
The update applies to specified Smartgyro and Raymarine configurations rather than every gyro or plotter. It is relevant to under-12-metre boats only where a suitable stabiliser installation is otherwise possible.
Fewer separate interfaces
Owners can review supported system information and operate available controls through the display they already use for other vessel data. That can make a helm look tidier and reduce the number of interfaces to learn.
The skipper must still understand the stabiliser's own operating requirements and warnings. Screen integration does not make a system maintenance-free.
A networked system
The arrangement depends on communication between installed hardware and approved software. An installer should confirm the exact version and available functions before promising an upgrade.
A small boat's electrical and structural limits remain the primary criteria for stabiliser selection. A modern interface cannot overcome an unsuitable foundation or weight distribution.
