Humidity control moves onto the phone
Seago's ecodry WiFi Plus adds app-based monitoring and adjustment to a task many boat owners normally manage with a standalone dehumidifier and periodic visits. Through a WiFi connection, users can alter target humidity, operating modes, timers and schedules remotely, allowing conditions inside the boat to be checked while it is left in a marina or storage berth.
The unit is a desiccant design rather than a compressor dehumidifier, and Seago specifies a working range from 1°C to 40°C. That low-temperature capability is particularly relevant to boats laid up through winter, when condensation can remain a problem even though cabin temperatures are too low for some conventional domestic units to work efficiently.
Continuous drainage supports unattended operation
The ecodry WiFi Plus can remove up to seven litres of water per day under its maximum rated conditions and includes a continuous-drain facility. With the drain hose correctly installed, the machine can run without an owner repeatedly emptying a collection tank, which is essential if the boat is to be left closed for extended periods.
Automatic restart after a power interruption is another practical marine feature because shore power can occasionally trip or be disconnected. When supply returns, the dehumidifier is designed to resume its previous settings rather than remaining idle until somebody visits the vessel and resets it.
Compact dimensions suit cabins and small cruisers
Seago lists the unit at 487 by 320 by 200mm and 6kg, with a quoted operating noise range of 37 to 49dB. An automatic louvre provides three-stage oscillation across a 120-degree range, helping distribute the warm dry air produced during desiccant operation rather than concentrating it in one part of the cabin.
On smaller boats, placement is important because air needs to move around upholstery, lockers and accommodation spaces where moisture can collect. Owners also need to route continuous drainage safely and ensure that shore-power arrangements are suitable for unattended electrical equipment, so installation deserves the same care as the choice of dehumidifier itself.
Moisture management protects more than comfort
High humidity contributes to mould, musty soft furnishings, corrosion and deterioration of stored equipment, making moisture control a maintenance issue rather than simply a comfort accessory. Electronics, tools, clothing and interior joinery can all benefit from keeping the cabin environment within a more stable range during long periods between visits.
The ecodry WiFi Plus will be displayed on stand P16 at Southampton International Boat Show 2026. Its connected controls reflect a wider trend in leisure boating, with owners increasingly expecting to monitor shore power, batteries, security and environmental conditions remotely while the boat is unattended.
