A boat’s advertised price may tell a buyer little about the monthly commitment involved. Marine finance specialist SALT has launched a search platform that allows users to explore listings through estimated monthly affordability.
BoatsOnFinance.com launched with more than 1,000 craft from sixteen UK dealers, according to the announcement. It connects interested buyers with participating marine businesses.
A different starting point for a search
Users can browse by indicative monthly figures rather than only the headline sale price. That can help people compare a wider range of boats against their intended budget.
An estimated payment is not a final credit agreement. Deposit, term, rate, eligibility and fees all affect the amount a customer would actually pay.
Dealers remain part of the transaction
The service directs prospective buyers to participating dealers. The platform itself does not establish the condition or suitability of every listed vessel.
Anyone considering a used boat should still check ownership papers and obtain a technical assessment where appropriate. Finance questions and boat-condition questions need separate answers.
Ownership has costs beyond repayments
Mooring, storage, insurance, servicing and fuel can make a substantial difference to the full annual budget. A low monthly purchase figure should not obscure those ongoing needs.
For LBG readers, the launch is a new route into the boating marketplace. Its usefulness depends on transparent calculations and a realistic view of the complete cost of ownership.
