SailPro has appointed GDS Limited to lead the UK launch of its connected sailing platform, giving the software business a local sales and development partner for clubs, race organisers, coaches, crews and boat owners. The announcement was made on 18 September through British Marine.

GDS will handle market development, product demonstrations, onboarding and local support as SailPro builds its UK presence. Managing director Adrian Gray is leading the programme, drawing on both marine-industry experience and a background in competitive sailing and yacht-club leadership.

One platform for several sailing tasks

SailPro is designed to bring race and event management, communications, boat administration and crew organisation into one connected system. That could reduce the number of separate spreadsheets, messaging tools and manual processes used by clubs and race teams.

The practical value will depend on how well the platform fits existing club workflows and how readily members adopt it. A software launch does not by itself guarantee simpler administration, so demonstrations and real-world use will be important measures of the product’s usefulness.

UK clubs are the first target for GDS

The launch programme will include direct contact with sailing and yacht clubs, demonstrations for race-management teams and participation at marine and sailing events. Sailors and owners will also be offered opportunities to register and explore the platform.

That approach gives smaller clubs a chance to assess the system before committing operational data or changing established procedures. Clubs should also consider privacy, access control, data export and continuity before moving important race or membership processes onto any cloud service.

Why digital administration matters to small-boat sailing

Dinghy fleets and small-yacht clubs often depend on volunteers, making administrative overhead a genuine barrier to running regular racing and training. Tools that reduce repeated manual work can free organisers to spend more time on water-based activity and member support.

For Leisure Boat Guide, SailPro is relevant because the technology is aimed at the everyday structures that support recreational sailing rather than only professional campaigns. The UK rollout now provides a useful test of whether one platform can serve clubs with very different sizes, fleets and operating habits.
