RS Sailing has published a new look at the RS CAT12 through a Small Craft Tasmania video that covers assembly, rigging and sailing in fresh conditions. The feature concentrates on practical ownership as much as outright performance.
The compact catamaran can be assembled in around 20 minutes, according to the manufacturer. The demonstration uses simple hand tools and also shows details such as storage pockets intended to keep halyard tails organised once the boat is rigged.
The test boat includes several owner-added cruising modifications, including a forward trampoline net for extra storage and a boarding strap. Those additions show how a small beach cat can be adapted for exploring and recreational use rather than being treated solely as a racing platform.
The RS CAT12 sits at the very small end of Leisure Boat Guide's sailing coverage. Its transportability and rapid setup illustrate a different ownership model from marina-based yachts, opening sailing to users who need to launch, recover and store a boat without permanent berthing.
