A new sales leadership role

Yamaha U.S. Marine Business Unit appointed Ron Campbell as Division Manager for Outboard Sales. His role covers Yamaha’s U.S. dealer outboard sales initiatives and programmes.

Campbell succeeded long-time Yamaha team member John Rigsby, who retired earlier in 2022. The transition placed a veteran of Yamaha’s WaterCraft division into a broader outboard-focused role.

Experience across marine sales

Campbell had spent 14 years with Yamaha WaterCraft, beginning as a district manager in Florida before moving into regional management. He worked across both boat and personal-watercraft product lines during that period.

Before joining Yamaha, he worked in account sales and helped expand a national customer base. That combination of dealer and wholesale experience formed part of the reasoning behind his appointment.

Dealers remain central

Outboard manufacturers depend heavily on dealers for product selection, rigging, delivery and after-sales support. Sales leadership therefore has to balance commercial targets with the practical needs of local dealerships.

Regional differences also matter because boating seasons, boat types and engine demand vary significantly across the United States. A national sales programme still needs flexibility at dealer level.

What customers eventually see

For LBG readers, management changes like this matter when they improve product availability, dealer support and communication. Those factors shape the buying experience even if customers never interact with the manufacturer directly.

A strong dealer network can make ownership easier from the first quotation through servicing and future repower work. Sales leadership is one of the less visible parts of maintaining that network.
