Forged carbon replaces the usual metal housing

Both lights use forged carbon-fibre housings rather than conventional aluminium or stainless-steel bodies. Plash says the material offers high thermal conductivity while remaining lightweight and inherently resistant to the corrosion problems that can affect exposed marine lighting.

That material choice is particularly relevant on smaller saltwater boats, where fittings mounted on T-tops, hardtops and towers are repeatedly exposed to spray. Reducing corrosion at the housing can cut cosmetic deterioration and potentially reduce maintenance around electrical fixtures.

Altius and Satius use different mounting arrangements

The Altius CF-1 is designed as a flush-mount spreader light, while the Satius CF-2 uses a carbon-fibre mounting bracket for applications that need an adjustable or surface-mounted unit. Both are offered in black or white finishes to suit different boat layouts.

Plash lists a 12-to-24-volt DC input range and IP67 protection for the products. The company also uses hydrophobic coatings and corrosion-resistant stainless hardware as part of the wider effort to make the lights suitable for exposed marine use.

Each unit is rated at 1,535 lumens

Plash rates both the Altius and Satius at 1,535 lumens, positioning them as working spreader lights rather than decorative accent lighting. Applications include illuminating cockpits, aft decks, fishing areas and boarding zones after dark.

On a leisure boat, useful deck lighting is as much a safety feature as a convenience. Good illumination can make it easier to handle lines, land fish, stow equipment or move around the cockpit without relying on handheld torches.

IBEX gives the range a wider industry launch

The company is using IBEX 2026 to highlight the forged-carbon range alongside additional lighting developments. The Tampa show opens on October 6 and brings together boatbuilders, equipment manufacturers and marine-technology suppliers from across the recreational sector.

For owners, the significance is less the material novelty by itself than the combination of low weight, corrosion resistance and useful output. As with any electrical refit, cable sizing, switching, circuit protection and mounting location need to be matched to the individual boat.
