Worldwide logistics for solo campaigns

Under the agreement, Pindar will provide transport and logistics support before, during and after each Global Solo Challenge. Services are expected to cover yacht transportation, equipment shipping, customs management and campaign planning for competitors preparing to race around the world.

The partnership also creates a dedicated competitor logistics programme. Entrants will have a single point of contact for specialist support, an arrangement intended to reduce the administrative burden of moving yachts and equipment internationally while skippers concentrate on preparation and qualification.

Partnership extends beyond transport

Both organisations say the relationship is broader than freight movement. They plan to work on initiatives intended to strengthen the event and improve pathways into offshore sailing, with particular attention to young sailors and women seeking to progress toward short-handed and solo ocean racing.

That ambition fits the Global Solo Challenge’s positioning as a relatively accessible route into round-the-world solo competition. The event uses a distinctive start format and attracts boats of different designs and budgets rather than requiring competitors to campaign one tightly controlled class.

A specialist sailing logistics partner

Pindar has more than four decades of experience in marine and event logistics. Its work includes boat transportation, freight forwarding, customs and ATA Carnet support, professional sailing-team logistics and project management across road, sea, air and rail.

For offshore sailors, logistics can become a major campaign issue long before the start line. Moving spares, safety equipment or an entire yacht across borders can consume time and budget, so a formal event partner with marine-specific experience may give competitors a more predictable route through those practical demands.
