2026 yacht-racing photography competition enters its final week

The Pantaenius Yacht Racing Image Award has set Monday 12 October at 23:59 Central European time as the deadline for photographers to submit their 2026 entries. The competition is open to images taken over the previous 12 months and focuses exclusively on yacht racing.

Public voting is scheduled to open on 20 October. An international jury will also select the top 20 photographs, creating a shortlist that will be displayed during METSTRADE in Amsterdam.

METSTRADE gives the competition an industry audience

Displaying the shortlisted work at METSTRADE places the photographers in front of yacht builders, equipment suppliers, designers and other marine-industry professionals. The exhibition therefore connects the visual culture of racing with a trade audience that supports many of the teams, classes and technologies shown in the photographs.

The awards ceremony will take place during the Yacht Racing Forum in Amsterdam on 20 November. Photographers can attend free of charge, although registration is required for the event.

Yacht racing imagery documents both sport and technology

Competitive sailing photography does more than capture race results because it records hull forms, sail systems, crew work and conditions that often change rapidly during a season. Strong images can also give designers and sponsors a lasting visual record of programmes that may only exist in one configuration for a short period.

Pantaenius continues as title sponsor of the award, linking the insurance brand with an international sailing audience. The 12 October deadline now gives photographers a final window to submit before judging and public voting begin.
