OceanLED has added the Sport Mini to its underwater-lighting range, targeting smaller leisure, fishing and wake boats with a compact surface-mount unit. The light produces up to 1,500 fixture lumens from a 75mm housing and weighs 150 grams.
The design is intended to reduce installation work compared with larger underwater lights. OceanLED specifies a single 12.5mm cable-entry hole and a 10–30V DC operating range.
Compact housing targets smaller transoms
The Sport Mini uses a hard-anodised aluminium housing with toughened glass and is rated to IP69K for water ingress protection. OceanLED offers the light in Ultra White and Midnight Blue versions.
Current draw is listed at 0.9A on a 12V system and 0.5A at 24V. That relatively modest electrical load makes the product easier to integrate on boats with smaller domestic battery systems.
OceanLED recommends two to six lights
The manufacturer recommends the Sport Mini for boats up to about 15 metres, with two to six lights depending on hull width and the desired lighting effect. Suggested spacing is around 0.5 to 1.2 metres between fittings.
Installation depth and hull material still matter even with a surface-mounted design. Owners should follow the supplied template and sealing instructions rather than treating the small cable hole as a substitute for careful installation.
Five-year warranty backs the new model
OceanLED lists a five-year warranty for the Sport Mini and positions it below the larger Sport Series in size and output. The product broadens the company’s range for owners who want underwater lighting without the space and power demands of a larger fixture.
