Eckhard Kaller takes over North Sails Germany

North Sails has appointed Eckhard Kaller to lead its German business following the retirement of long-serving managing director Stefan Matschuk. The transition keeps leadership within an experienced internal network in one of the company’s most important European sailing markets.

Matschuk has spent many years with North Sails and built long-standing relationships with customers, sailing teams and industry partners. Kaller has worked alongside him and is expected to provide continuity rather than a sharp change in commercial direction.

Germany remains important across racing and cruising segments

The German market spans offshore racing, performance sailing, cruising yachts and a substantial marine-industry base. Sailmakers operating there therefore need to support both technically demanding race programmes and owners seeking durable products for long-term cruising.

North Sails also operates within the wider North Technology Group, giving regional teams access to global design resources and materials expertise. Local leadership remains important because customer specification, service and sail-care relationships are typically handled close to the owner or yacht programme.

Leadership succession aims to preserve customer continuity

Chief executive Sam Watson described the handover as an important career milestone for Matschuk and a platform for continued growth under Kaller. The company has not announced a wider restructuring around the German operation.

For customers, the practical measure of the transition will be continuity of service, technical support and relationships with the local sailmaking team. The appointment keeps those priorities within an established internal succession rather than bringing in an external management reset.
