A new chief executive for the Nordkapp business
Frydenbø Marine, the company behind Nordkapp Boats, has appointed Calle Olsson as its new chief executive with effect from 1 September 2026. The appointment places an experienced marine-industry executive in charge of a leisure-boat brand with a strong Scandinavian base and ambitions to grow further outside its home markets.
Olsson brings around 25 years of boating-industry experience and already knows the Nordkapp business. He previously led Nordic Marine and later held senior roles within Frydenbø Marine after the group’s 2012 acquisition of Fische Marine. Most recently, he served as country manager for Norway, Sweden and Denmark at Mercury Marine.
International growth is a central priority
Nordkapp says the leadership change comes with a clear focus on the brand’s international potential. Olsson has said that returning to work closely with Nordkapp is particularly motivating because he already understands the products, their market position and the dealer environment around them.
The company’s stated aim is to make Nordkapp ownership easier both inside and outside Scandinavia. For leisure-boat buyers, that makes dealer coverage, service support and parts availability important measures of whether international growth translates into a better ownership experience rather than simply wider sales reach.
Experienced leadership in a competitive small-boat market
Nordkapp competes in a busy segment of the leisure-boat market where buyers increasingly expect modern electronics, efficient outboards, strong resale support and straightforward dealer access alongside hull performance. Leadership with experience on both the boatbuilder and engine-manufacturer sides may help the company coordinate those areas as it expands.
Olsson succeeds Trond Underhaug, who has moved on to lead Fjord Defence Marine. Nordkapp credited Underhaug with guiding the company through an important development period and is positioning the new appointment as the start of its next growth phase.
What to watch next
The immediate test will be how Frydenbø Marine develops Nordkapp’s dealer and service network while keeping the brand’s Nordic identity intact. Expansion into new countries can increase visibility, but for owners the practical gains come from dependable local support, realistic delivery times and a consistent customer experience after purchase.
Leisure Boat Guide will continue to follow Nordkapp’s model launches, dealer expansion and product updates as the new management team sets out its next steps.
