A new all-weather member of the Nimbus 35 family

Nimbus has revealed the Sport Coupé 35, adding a fully enclosed cruiser to a three-model range built around the same 10.80-metre hull. The Swedish manufacturer released the first rendered images in October 2026, ahead of a planned world premiere at boot Düsseldorf from 23 to 31 January 2027. This is therefore a preview of the design and preliminary equipment, not a report from an independently tested production boat.

The Sport Coupé 35 follows the Sport Tender 35 and sits alongside the Sport Weekender 35 within the company's shared-hull programme. The idea is to combine the running characteristics of a contemporary sport boat with the quiet, sheltered accommodation for which Nimbus Coupé models are known. It is aimed at owners who want to travel in comfort when conditions are not ideal, as well as enjoy an open deck when the weather improves.

Although 35 feet is a familiar size in leisure boating, the new model takes an unusually integrated approach to indoor and outdoor use. A solid roof, opening glass panels and a protected saloon are designed to make longer journeys possible without every passenger sitting outside. At the same time, the foredeck and aft platform remain central to day boating and family recreation.

Sidewalk layout and access from the helm

One of the most distinctive features is Nimbus's asymmetrical Sidewalk arrangement. The starboard side deck is wider and runs from aft to bow, creating a clear route for moving around the boat and handling lines. On the port side, the raised deck makes more room for the saloon and the passage to the mid cabin. This is not simply an aesthetic choice: it changes how crew members approach docks and how much interior volume the builder can provide.

The helm has a side door directly onto the starboard deck, allowing the skipper to reach mooring lines without passing through the entire saloon. A separate side gate in the hull is designed for stepping onto a quay, with a flush closure when underway. These arrangements can be particularly helpful for a small crew, but they do not replace practice and a sensible docking plan.

Nimbus also describes optional Mercury joystick piloting integrated with a bow thruster. The system is intended to reduce workload during close-quarters manoeuvres, while the dashboard places controls for regularly used functions within easy reach. Buyers should verify which systems are standard and which require options, because a drawing that displays several capabilities does not mean every production configuration includes them.

Saloon, galley and flexible sleeping

The saloon uses a dinette rather than a conventional U-shaped lounge, allowing the table to accommodate a proper meal. A forward seat can face the direction of travel, and the table lowers to create another lounging surface or occasional sleeping arrangement. This ability to change configuration is important on a ten-metre boat where the same square metres may be used for lunch, travelling and relaxing on an evening at anchor.

The galley is placed on the main deck with the dinette, rather than hidden below. Nimbus lists a gas or electric hob, double sink, cabinets and storage integrated into the saloon structure. The arrangement keeps meal preparation within the social centre of the boat. Owners who cook regularly will still want to inspect ventilation, storage and how people move around the galley before specifying their preferred equipment.

Below decks are a forward cabin with a double berth, a mid cabin and a separate head with shower. The raised port deck contributes to improved headroom in the mid cabin, while opening ports and a foredeck hatch provide ventilation. For a family considering longer weekends, these details may be more important than a headline speed figure. Practical room to change clothes, sleep and carry provisions often determines whether an overnight boat is used frequently.

Foredeck, aft deck and waterside recreation

The foredeck has been designed as a social area with seating for up to eight around a table, as well as space for sunbeds. With cushions removed, it can return to a more practical working deck for boarding and rope handling. A boat this size has limited room for completely separate activities, so this flexibility allows the same area to serve different purposes through the day.

Aft, the deck includes an L-shaped sofa with seating for five or six, a table and an arrangement that can convert into a sunbed. The builder's design also includes a fold-down side balcony, offering another connection to the water at anchor. Those interested in fishing can rearrange the seating to clear working space, while an optional rack gives support for people standing at the stern.

The canopy system has been incorporated into the original design, with side panels and an aft closure intended to deploy quickly. A sliding glass door separates cockpit and saloon as standard, while an electrically lowered window and folding door are offered as an option. This distinction is relevant to buyers who expect to use the boat outside summer, when the speed of closing the cockpit can materially affect comfort.

Engines and what remains to be confirmed

Power options announced by Nimbus include a single Mercury V10 outboard, twin Mercury V8 300 outboards and a Volvo Penta D6 inboard. The published model specifications also list a fuel capacity of 620 litres and a 3.20-metre beam. Different engine arrangements are likely to affect usable aft space, weight and handling characteristics, so buyers should compare the actual build specifications rather than assume the choices offer identical performance.

Nimbus says the common hull has an air-lubricated twin-step design using a vacuum-infused sandwich structure. It cites a test result of 48.5 knots for the related Sport Tender 35 with twin 300-horsepower Mercury engines. That figure should not be presented as a verified top speed for the Sport Coupé 35: the enclosed superstructure and different equipment mean the new model needs its own sea-trial results.

The planned January 2027 world premiere should provide a better opportunity to evaluate visibility, finish, ventilation and the way the flexible furniture works in practice. For now, the Sport Coupé 35 looks most interesting as an all-season family cruiser that retains the useful deck access and versatility of a sport boat. Buyers should check final specifications and pricing with Nimbus or an authorised dealer before committing to an order.
