Nautitech has announced the end of production for the 40 Open, bringing a thirteen-year manufacturing run to a close. The yard says 259 examples of the cruising catamaran were built during that period.
The 40 Open helped establish Nautitech's open cockpit-and-saloon concept and became one of the models most closely associated with the Rochefort shipyard. The design was developed with Marc Lombard Yacht Design Group and was intended to combine practical onboard circulation with balanced sailing behaviour.
Nautitech marked the end of production with an internal event at the yard on 11 February 2026. The final boat, hull number 259, was completed for an experienced owner who plans to use it for extended cruising.
The model's departure also clears space for the next phase of Nautitech development, including the future 41 Type S. For Leisure Boat Guide, the 40 Open remains significant because it demonstrates how a production cruising catamaran near the top of the sub-12-metre market can sustain a long series-production life.
