Nanni packages helm controls around the engine installation

Nanni has launched Nova, short for Nanni Onboard Vessel Assistant, as a combined helm-control package for its marine engines. The system brings together a new control lever, a joystick and the SI-5 digital dashboard rather than asking owners and builders to assemble those functions from separate components.

The package was introduced in September 2026 and can be configured around the requirements of a new engine installation. Nanni says many existing engines can also be upgraded, with local dealers responsible for checking compatibility and defining the appropriate configuration.

Joystick works with ZF positioning and drift functions

The new lever and joystick were developed with ZF. The joystick supports one-handed docking and can be combined with iAnchor, which holds position and heading, and iDrift, which manages drift speed and direction.

The SI-5 display presents essential engine information at the helm so propulsion data and manoeuvring controls remain within the same operating environment. Nanni says the aim is to reduce the complexity owners face when choosing and integrating individual control options.

Integrated helm systems are becoming more important

As propulsion, steering, positioning and vessel information become increasingly connected, builders are moving toward complete helm packages rather than treating each component as a separate specification. This can simplify installation and make the user interface more consistent across different operating modes.

Nova will become part of Nanni’s Complete Marine Power Solutions offering. The next measure will be how broadly builders adopt the package and whether retrofit demand develops among owners seeking newer manoeuvring functions without replacing an otherwise serviceable engine.
