A boatbuilder’s next improvement may come from a workshop process, a digital tool or a different material rather than from a new hull shape. Metstrade has published a 2026 programme intended to connect those practical decisions with industry-wide discussions in Amsterdam.
The trade exhibition runs from 17 to 19 November at RAI Amsterdam. Its announced content spans new technology, sustainable operations and access to a skilled workforce, with meetings for suppliers and marine businesses.
Digital tools and materials are on the agenda
Metstrade plans sessions about automation, data, advanced materials and connected technologies in boatbuilding. The intention is to examine how manufacturers can improve efficiency and develop products while the market changes.
Those issues apply to the suppliers behind small leisure craft as well as larger yards. A compact boat still depends on reliable electronic systems, manageable production processes and equipment that can be serviced after sale.
Training and access share attention with technology
The programme includes the Women in the Marine Industry International Breakfast and Young Professionals Club activities. Organisers identify workforce attraction, retention and mentoring as concerns that businesses need to address.
It also sets aside content for sustainability, including the Marine Impact Lab and contributions from marine associations. The sessions are billed as opportunities to explore practical approaches rather than simply restate broad ambitions.
Industry awards round out the show
The DAME Design Awards will highlight marine equipment design, while Boat Builder Awards will recognise work across manufacturing and other business areas. These programmes give small-craft suppliers and builders a chance to bring specific solutions into a wider discussion.
For LBG, the programme is relevant because product and service improvements start upstream of a boat purchase. The November show offers a view of the materials, people and systems that may shape future under-12m craft.
