An agreement spanning the next three seasons

Brunswick Corporation has renewed its association with Major League Fishing for a further three years, keeping Mercury Marine and Lowrance involved with one of North America's most visible competitive angling organisations. Announced on 28 October 2026, the extension covers multiple tournament properties and media channels rather than concentrating exposure on a single championship weekend.

The announcement matters to ordinary boat owners as well as professional competitors. Outboard propulsion, sonar, chartplotters and trolling motors sit at the centre of modern recreational fishing, and tournament use places those systems in front of people who make purchasing decisions for their own boats. The agreement is a commercial partnership, not a new product launch.

A relationship dating to the first Challenge Cup

Mercury Marine and Lowrance supported the organisation when its first Challenge Cup took place on Lake Amistad in 2011. Their involvement has therefore continued through the development of a competition circuit with a much larger schedule, audience and range of event formats. Brunswick presents the extension as a continuation of a longstanding relationship.

That history helps explain why this announcement is more substantial than a new logo added to a tournament poster. Established sponsors have opportunities to work with organisers, athletes and audiences across successive seasons. The companies have not disclosed the sponsorship's financial terms, so any suggestion of a contract value would be speculative.

Which tournament series are included

The renewed package retains official sponsorship positions within the MLF Bass Pro Tour, Starlink Team Series and Kubota Heavy Hitters. Brunswick says Mercury and Lowrance will appear at selected competitions and fan activities associated with those properties, bringing their different technologies into the same public-facing programme.

These are not interchangeable events. Tournament formats, audience expectations and on-water practices vary, and equipment demonstrations need to fit the occasion. The multi-series arrangement gives the brands a mix of high-profile professional exposure and contact with viewers who follow fishing techniques, boat setup and marine electronics in detail.

Mercury Marine's propulsion role

Mercury's presence provides an engine and boat-handling dimension to the partnership. Modern bass boats often cover considerable distances between fishing areas, so responsive power, reliability and efficient cruising are practical issues for competitive anglers. Brunswick intends to feature Mercury propulsion throughout the event and media programme.

Professional tournament footage can show how engines are used in real conditions, but it does not independently establish which motor is best for every recreational installation. Hull weight, loading, fuel economy, propeller selection and local service support remain important when an owner selects an outboard for a smaller fishing boat.

Lowrance, C-MAP and electronic navigation

Lowrance will continue to promote its fishfinding and navigation technology, with C-MAP premium charting among the products included in the deal. Brunswick also identifies sonar, mapping and trolling-motor systems as part of the equipment story. That breadth reflects the way current fishing electronics are increasingly treated as an integrated helm package.

For a leisure angler, the practical questions are compatibility, screen readability, transducer arrangement, battery consumption and the usefulness of local charts. Competitive demonstrations may make advanced functions familiar, but owners still need to check which features suit their waters and whether installation requires additional sensors or networking components.

Television, livestreams and on-site exposure

The agreement includes exposure through television programmes, live streams, social media and activities at tournament venues. The companies will also have their names placed on selected anglers' boats and clothing at Starlink Team Series and Kubota Heavy Hitters events. This distributes the brands across the competition itself and the commentary around it.

Digital and television coverage can bring a specialist sport to people who are not able to visit a launch ramp or attend an outdoor exhibition. Nevertheless, sponsorship material should be understood as advertising-supported coverage. Technical product claims are best assessed alongside published specifications, independent sea trials and owner experience.

Why smaller-boat owners should watch

The partnership is relevant far beyond the elite tournament fleet. Many leisure boaters work within more modest budgets and shorter operating ranges, but they face the same basic problems: starting reliably, locating fish, understanding bottom structure and returning to the ramp safely. Products shown in competitions can introduce owners to capabilities they may eventually consider.

At the same time, the most expensive package on a tournament boat is rarely the automatic choice for a family runabout or occasional fishing craft. Appropriate horsepower, adequate electrical capacity and familiar navigation controls may matter more than headline specifications. Readers should treat the series as a source of ideas rather than a shopping list.

What happens next

Brunswick says Mercury Marine, Lowrance and C-MAP will continue to appear across the agreed MLF properties during the new three-year term. The announcement does not specify new hardware, a change to tournament rules or a revised consumer warranty. Those matters should be judged on separate manufacturer and organiser notices as they emerge.

The wider significance is continuity: a propulsion brand and an electronics brand will keep supporting a competitive format that attracts anglers, dealers and spectators. For the recreational marine sector, the collaboration is another illustration of how tournament fishing provides a channel between specialist engineering, boating media and day-to-day owners.
