Melges has announced the inaugural Melges 24 Space Coast Cup, scheduled for 11 to 13 December 2026 at the Melges Watersports Center in Merritt Island, Florida. The event is being organised in partnership with Port Canaveral Yacht Club.
The new regatta will bring the Melges 24 fleet to Florida's Space Coast for a weekend of one-design ocean racing. Melges is positioning the event as another destination meeting for owners of the long-established 24-foot performance keelboat.
The venue is significant because it links a class event directly with the manufacturer's own watersports facility. That provides a focal point for racing, owner support and class activity rather than treating the boat simply as a product sold through a dealer network.
The Melges 24 remains well inside LBG's under-12-metre remit and is one of the best-known small performance keelboats in production sailing. A new class event therefore represents relevant ownership news as well as a racing announcement.
