The X24 makes a bigger statement
The 2027 MasterCraft X24 represents a more substantial watersports proposition than an ordinary family bowrider. The manufacturer has reworked the boat’s hull and interior, giving it a published length of 24 feet 3 inches and seating for up to seventeen people. The design focuses on large, adjustable surf waves and a high-end cockpit experience rather than simple point-to-point transport. Buyers should consider it a dedicated wakeboat whose strongest features matter during repeated towing sessions.
MasterCraft lists 4,050 pounds of ballast, a 102-inch beam and a dry boat weight of 7,200 pounds, with an 86-gallon fuel tank. Those figures illustrate the scale of the package, but safe carrying capacity is governed by the manufacturer’s actual limits, not the arithmetic sum of seat count and ballast. A fully equipped X24 with trailer, fuel, water and passengers becomes a serious load. Transport and launch planning should begin long before choosing a place to store it.
One notable part of the redesign is the emphasis on the aft area, where seating and storage are arranged around watersports use. MasterCraft describes an expanded transom and dedicated board-storage provisions. That matters because a wakeboat can become untidy quickly when many boards, tow lines and wet belongings are brought aboard. Secure storage keeps access ways clearer and reduces the chance of someone stepping on equipment while helping a rider return to the boat.
Surf systems and the driving experience
SurfStar is part of the X24’s listed wake-making equipment, supported by FastFill ballast operation. MasterCraft also offers an Ilmor supercharged 6.2-litre power option among its engine choices, although a buyer must confirm what is actually included on the intended build. The role of this equipment is to shape predictable waves with a large and changing load. It does not mean the boat should operate indiscriminately in shallow water or near shore structures.
A more powerful engine can be relevant when a wakeboat is heavily configured, but the practical towing experience depends on several factors working together. Ballast distribution, propeller selection, hull form and the driver’s technique affect the ride. A dealership water demonstration should show start, turn and rider recovery procedures as well as the surf setting. Buyers should insist on a realistic load and ordinary lake conditions rather than a polished video filmed with an expert crew.
A large interior creates both comfort and responsibility. Guests need safe passages, handholds and seating that does not obstruct the operator’s view. The ability to carry numerous boards and passengers is useful only if the crew can respond calmly when someone is in the water. All occupants should know how to remain clear of the propulsion system and towing gear. The driver should keep the helm free of distractions during a run.
A careful comparison with other X models
The X24 can be compared with MasterCraft’s smaller X23 and with less equipment-intensive XT boats. It is not automatically a better choice for a small family on a compact lake. Its extra length and weight may require a different vehicle, trailer and mooring arrangement. Before ordering, measure the total trailered height with the tower lowered, check the driveway and launching access, and estimate maintenance for the engine, ballast and audio systems.
Local rules for wake surfing vary and can restrict where a deep-hulled, ballast-equipped craft operates. A responsible owner checks minimum distances from the shore, other boaters and sensitive habitat, and ensures a qualified observer is aboard where required. Wakes from a large boat can have serious effects beyond the rider being towed. Lifejackets, safe retrieval and a clear engine-stop routine are essential every trip, regardless of the vessel’s price or sophistication.
MasterCraft’s 2027 X24 combines a revised hull, 4,050-pound ballast specification and seventeen-seat accommodation into a high-end surf-focused package. It may be especially attractive to owners who spend long days hosting groups and value substantial onboard storage. The final choice should still be grounded in the intended waterway, physical storage limits and the delivered specification. A good test drive can establish whether the X24’s extra capability earns its place in the family’s boating routine.
