A two-day youth championship
Loch Lomond Sailing Club hosted the Scottish Sailing Pathway Championships on 20 and 21 June 2026. More than ninety sailors representing twenty-two Scottish clubs took part.
The event’s revised name reflects changes in the RYA Scotland performance pathway. It is a completed result rather than an upcoming September regatta.
A range of junior classes
Participants raced across established youth and junior dinghy categories. The competition brought together experienced sailors and those developing their racecourse skills.
A pathway event can be useful for gaining experience against crews from other clubs. Participation alone does not determine a sailor’s later selection or qualification.
Conditions over the weekend
RYA Scotland reports sunshine and solid wind on the Saturday, providing an opportunity for full racing. The two-day format combined competitive activity with a supportive social setting.
Weather is an important part of regatta management and can change the racing programme. The published report describes that weekend’s conditions, not a forecast for the loch.
Connecting clubs across Scotland
The gathering gave young sailors a chance to meet peers beyond their local training groups. It also highlighted the role of volunteer organisers and club facilities in youth competition.
