A place at Dakar
The RYA announced that Britain had been allocated one quota place for the women’s windsurfing event at the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Senegal. The allocation followed a review of qualification places.
The announcement secures a national entry, not the identity of the athlete who will use it. The men’s windsurfing event was not included in the same allocation.
Selection is a separate process
The RYA and British Olympic Association are working on a policy to decide which sailor will represent Team GB. Relevant international results are expected to inform selection.
No final sailor can be inferred from the award of the quota itself. Candidates should rely on the governing bodies’ published eligibility and process.
A pathway for young windsurfers
The event creates an opportunity for one athlete to take part in a major multi-sport competition. The RYA views it as part of the route from youth racing into higher-level sport.
The chosen discipline uses specialist equipment and training demands. A quota announcement is not a general invitation to enter without qualification.
