Kawasaki's 2027 Jet Ski ST 160 family provides a naturally aspirated, three-person alternative to the brand's more specialised touring and supercharged models. Both the ST 160 and ST 160X use a 1,498cc in-line four-cylinder engine and are aimed at general recreational use.
The platform emphasises a comfortable riding position, predictable hull behaviour and substantial storage. That combination makes the ST line relevant to families and first-time owners who want more capability than a basic entry-level PWC.
Storage and seating are central to the design
Kawasaki lists 35 gallons of storage and a slide-and-lift rear-seat storage arrangement. Two cup holders, a broad rear deck and three-person seating support day trips rather than short solo riding sessions.
The standard ST 160 also includes one-touch 5mph mode and electronic cruise control. Those features are especially useful around marinas and during longer steady-speed runs.
ST 160X adds trim and adjustable cruise control
The ST 160X builds on the same mechanical platform with adjustable electronic cruise control, tapered handle grips, premium painted components and a two-tone seat. Kawasaki also gives the X a more distinctive colour and trim package.
The upgrade therefore focuses on ergonomics and presentation rather than additional engine output. Buyers can choose between the two without changing the underlying 1,498cc power unit.
Positioned below the specialist Ultra models
Kawasaki lists the 2027 ST 160 from $11,899 in the US and the ST 160X from $12,499 before destination and other charges. That positions the family below the more heavily equipped Ultra and supercharged STX 310 ranges.
For owners, the simpler naturally aspirated format may also mean a different balance of fuel use and servicing requirements. Regional equipment and pricing vary, so final comparisons should be made against local dealer specifications.
