Hobie's Mirage Passport 10.5 R uses a 3.20-metre rotomoulded polyethylene hull and pedal propulsion for a single paddler. Its MirageDrive GT has kick-up fins intended to move away when they meet an underwater obstruction.
The drive and rudder arrangement
The pedal system frees the user's hands for steering, photography or a quiet journey around a lake. A twist-and-stow rudder supports direction changes in tighter waterways, while the fins are designed to fold and redeploy after a light impact.
Kick-up fins do not mean that rocks, submerged timber or sudden shallows can be ignored. Water depth and local hazards still call for suitable route planning.
A seat built for time afloat
The raised, ventilated Vantage CTW seat gives a more supportive position than a simple floor pad. Hobie also lists colours including Seagrass Green, Dune Camo and Glacier Blue in the regional model range.

Hobie's official specification lists 86.36 centimetres of beam and 147.42 kilograms of overall capacity. The hull weighs 29.48 kilograms with fittings, increasing to approximately 34.02 kilograms fully rigged.
The published capacity covers more than the person alone, including dry bags and carried accessories. Roof racks, lifting arrangements and a realistic recovery plan matter even for a compact kayak.
A current-model overview
The Passport 10.5 R is designed for day outings rather than an overnight open-water crossing. A personal flotation device, local weather check and suitable communications remain part of the boating plan.
