The Hobie Mirage Lynx combines a light 3.35-metre hull with the MirageDrive 180 pedal system and kick-up fins. Its broad, flatter-bottom profile is intended to balance efficient movement with a usable deck for recreational paddling.

Forward and reverse from the seat

The MirageDrive 180 allows the paddler to change propulsion direction while remaining seated. A steering arrangement and removable equipment make the kayak practical for slow exploration and manoeuvring in a confined sheltered area.

Reverse propulsion is useful when approaching a bank, but it is no substitute for checking the available water and keeping a paddle accessible. Pedal mechanisms also need cleaning after saltwater use.
