Highfield's Patrol 540 is a 5.45-metre aluminium-hulled RIB aimed at owners who need a robust layout for both family excursions and practical work. The current builder page lists 2.51 metres of overall beam and up to 115 horsepower.
A configurable working deck
Console and seating arrangements can be adapted with options such as suspension seating and a dive rack. Highfield's open deck and tubes give crew a different arrangement from a rigid runabout with full-height topsides.
A practical deck is useful for diving and photography, but every activity needs properly secured gear and appropriate movement while under way. The actual layout should be checked before specifying accessories.
Hull and tube construction
The builder lists a powder-coated aluminium hull, six air chambers and the option of ORCA Hypalon or PVC tubes. A 25-degree deadrise and self-draining deck support its stated versatile brief.
Tube material and repair procedures should be considered against climate, storage and frequency of use. A RIB's buoyancy does not eliminate the need for lifejackets and competent operation.
Capacity on the current sheet
The manufacturer lists a 960-kilogram maximum load, up to twelve people and a 105-litre tank. Boat-only weight is approximately 488 kilograms under the quoted equipment basis.
Crew and cargo must be considered together against the stated rating and actual plate. Engine, fuel and accessories change the ready-to-launch mass even if the load definition excludes some of them.
An adaptable small boat
This is the main Patrol 540 model, separate from the ready-to-go Coaster configuration. Owners should compare how much seating they want to trade for deck access and equipment storage.
