An adventure boat under seven metres

Highfield's ADV7 is included in Barcelona International Boat Show's October 2026 exhibitor catalogue. The builder gives the crossover a length of 6.98 metres and beam of 2.68 metres, combining details associated with rugged inflatable craft and a more sheltered family-boat layout. It sits at the opposite end of the scale from the larger cruisers also present on the Barcelona pontoons.

The ADV7 is designed primarily for day boating, swimming, towing activities and short coastal exploration. Highfield describes space for up to eight people, but a capacity rating should not be interpreted as sleeping accommodation for a group. Its practical attraction is a multipurpose cockpit in a boat still capable of trailer-based adventures.

What the construction figures tell buyers

Highfield's technical sheet specifies a 20-degree deadrise, six tube air chambers and a maximum outboard power rating of 300 horsepower. The manufacturer quotes a boat-only weight of approximately 1,300 kilograms and a maximum load of 640 kilograms, with qualifications about excluding propulsion, fuel and water from that load measurement. Understanding the way those figures are defined is essential when comparing different manufacturers.

The ADV7's relatively high sides and guarded seating aim to provide security without making the interior feel confined. The appearance of an adventure-oriented hull does not mean it should be operated at high speed in every sea condition. A skipper should choose speed to match visibility, wave shape and passenger comfort.

Amenities that support a full day outside

The builder lists a T-top, sunshade, bathing ladder, shower, sink and lounge areas among the ADV7's equipment. A refrigerator, toilet arrangement and other comforts may vary by market or be optional. This gives owners enough facilities to consider a full day aboard rather than a succession of very short trips.

Practical examination should focus on how the crew moves when several people are seated, where paddles and wet gear can be kept and whether the helm provides useful protection when the wind increases. It is worth asking to see the locations of pumps, fuses and other components that will need maintenance after several seasons.

Trailer and storage considerations

Highfield markets the ADV7 as comparatively transportable, but the actual towing weight includes the engine, trailer, fuel and equipment. Buyers need to confirm their vehicle's permissible towing mass and the applicable road regulations before treating trailer use as a foregone conclusion. Safe launch and retrieval at a slipway are also learned skills.

Barcelona's boat-show presence offers a chance to compare the ADV7 with traditional RIBs and similar small sportsboats. Its position is as a practical adventure crossover, not a small yacht with full-time living facilities. The dealer should provide the approved engine combinations, warranty arrangements and an accurate specification for the displayed unit.
