Helios Marine’s Omega 7.2 has entered the Dutch market through E-WERF following its Netherlands debut at HISWA te Water in Lelystad from 2 to 6 September 2026. The 7.2-metre day boat is notable because its hull, battery location, propulsion and solar system were developed together around electric operation rather than added to an existing petrol-powered platform.

A 7.2m day boat designed around electric propulsion

The Omega measures 7.2 metres overall with a 2.4-metre beam and 0.5-metre draft. Helios rates it for eight passengers under CE Category C and uses a semi-deep-V hull intended to balance stability with moderate-chop performance.

Two principal propulsion configurations are described by the manufacturer. The Essential version uses a 25kW motor with two 9kWh battery modules and a quoted light/all-in equipment weight of about 1,200kg before passengers and consumables. The Signature configuration uses a 50kW motor with four 9kWh modules and is quoted at about 1,650kg without passengers.

Battery capacity and charging are configurable

The current specification page lists battery options of 18, 36, 54 and 72kWh, while the integrated solar hardtop is rated at 1.55kWp. Helios quotes a maximum speed of 17 knots and a 6-knot cruising speed for the 50kW version, but performance will vary with the selected battery and motor package, load and sea state.

Charging uses an AC Type 2 inlet with an onboard charger. Helios lists up to 3kW from single-phase shore power and up to 9kW from three-phase power where available. The company’s example charging times are about 12 hours at 3kW or four hours at 9kW for a 35.8kWh pack, although actual times depend on starting state of charge and shore-power conditions.

Range needs configuration context

The product page displays much larger headline range figures, but its FAQ provides a more useful configuration-specific example. With four battery modules giving about 36kWh in total, some contribution from the solar roof and a cruising speed of roughly 6 knots, Helios says the boat can achieve up to 54 nautical miles, or around 100 kilometres.

That figure remains a manufacturer estimate rather than an independent test result. Electric-boat range changes sharply with speed, wind, waves, payload, water temperature, battery condition and hotel loads, so buyers should compare figures only when the battery configuration and operating speed are stated alongside the distance.

Dutch launch adds a local demo and support route

E-WERF is the official Helios Marine importer and dealer in the Netherlands and ordered the first Dutch demo Omega 7.2 for display and test sailing at HISWA te Water. The distributor already works with electric and hybrid conversions, batteries and propulsion systems, giving the new-build Omega a local technical route beyond the manufacturer’s own support.

The boat also uses Helios Marine Link to combine battery status, solar generation, energy use, charging data and propulsion information on an onboard display or phone. For owners of small electric craft, that integrated energy picture is increasingly as important as the conventional fuel gauge because range planning depends on understanding both consumption and available charging.
