A new 16,000-square-metre marine service complex has opened at Genoa's Waterfront di Levante, combining workshops, technical quays, sailmaking and a 140-tonne travel lift. Genoa Sea Service, Gatti and North Sails are operating from the shared site.
Although part of the complex is designed for yachts above Leisure Boat Guide's under-12-metre coverage, the development matters to the wider boating service economy. Sailmaking, haul-out capability and specialist repair businesses often support several size classes from the same regional cluster.
Three businesses share one industrial base
The two-level building provides about 6,200 square metres of covered space within the wider site. Genoa Sea Service and Gatti occupy ground-floor areas, while North Sails operates from the upper level.
Bringing complementary marine businesses together can reduce the distance between inspection, repair and sail work. Each company still operates independently, so owners need to book the correct service rather than assume one contract covers the whole site.
A 140-tonne travel lift expands haul-out work
The site includes a dedicated launch-and-recovery basin, technical quay space and a 140-tonne travel lift. That capacity is far above what most sub-12-metre boats require, but smaller craft can benefit from the same skilled labour and workshop infrastructure where accepted.
Actual access depends on the operator's customer mix, booking policy and the work required. Owners should confirm whether the facility handles their boat rather than assuming all marine craft are automatically accepted.
Genoa continues building a marine service cluster
The facility adds another specialist location to a city already associated with boatbuilding, refit and sailmaking. Regional concentration can be useful because owners and builders have access to more technical disciplines within a relatively small area.
