Four Winns has added a new 20-foot dayboat to its range with the HD2, a compact model designed to combine easy trailering and storage with the interior volume normally associated with a larger boat. The builder is offering the HD2 in both sterndrive and outboard configurations, allowing buyers to choose between two distinct approaches to propulsion and cockpit layout.
The new model uses an open bow, wraparound seating and a squared-forward layout intended to make better use of the available length. Four Winns describes the HD2 as a boat that can fit into many garages and launch easily from a ramp while still providing the comfort expected from the brand’s larger dayboats.
Outboard and sterndrive configurations
The outboard version is available with Mercury or Yamaha power in the 150–200hp range. Moving the engine outside the hull frees more space within the cockpit and creates a different seating arrangement at the stern, an increasingly popular solution in this size of family dayboat.
The sterndrive version takes the more traditional route, placing the engine beneath the aft deck. That layout creates a clean swim-platform arrangement and keeps the propeller tucked beneath the stern, which can appeal to owners who prioritise watersports, swimming and a low-profile transom.
Space is central to the new design
Four Winns says the HD2 has been designed around a high space-to-price ratio, with the squared bow contributing to greater usable seating and floor area. The open layout is intended to work for cruising, swimming and social use rather than forcing the boat into a single specialist role.
Premium upholstery, storage solutions and the builder’s established styling cues carry the HD2 beyond an entry-level utility boat. The result is a model aimed at buyers who want a manageable 20-foot footprint without giving up the finish and comfort of a larger recreational boat.
A significant size for leisure boating
At 20 feet, the HD2 sits in one of the most accessible parts of the leisure-boat market. It remains compact enough for towing and home storage while offering the passenger space and equipment needed for full days on the water, making it directly relevant to first-time owners and experienced boaters downsizing from larger craft.
