The 7.73m aluminium flagship gets practical changes

The current Husky R8 measures 7.73 metres long with a 2.47-metre beam and is designed for outboards from 225hp to 300hp. Finnmaster has concentrated the 2026 update on day-to-day usability rather than changing the basic aluminium-hull concept.

For owners who use a boat for swimming, fishing and general family cruising, incremental deck changes can matter more than dramatic styling. Boarding routes, clear walking space and protection from weather are all features that are noticed repeatedly during a normal day afloat.

Longer swim platform and one-step deck improve access

Finnmaster has extended the swim platform and introduced a one-step deck arrangement at the stern. The builder says the changes create more usable space and simplify movement to and from the water for swimming and other waterside activities.

The practical value will depend on how the boat is loaded and where equipment is stored, but reducing changes in deck level can make circulation easier. Owners should still assess handholds, boarding-ladder access and the route around the outboard when viewing the boat in person.

T-top coverage and bow-thruster assistance increase

The 2026 R8 receives a longer T-top for greater coverage over the helm and cockpit, while Finnmaster has also specified a larger bow thruster to improve manoeuvrability in tight spaces. The model's standard power range remains 225hp to 300hp.

A larger bow thruster can be useful when windage or current makes marina handling difficult, but it remains an aid rather than a substitute for throttle and steering technique. The longer T-top may also add useful shade while slightly changing windage and overhead clearance.

New finishes give the R8 a sharper 2026 identity

Finnmaster has paired the functional updates with new hull graphics featuring red accents, plus refreshed MarineMat flooring, cushions and seats using matching details. The changes are designed to align visually with Mercury engine packages while retaining the R8's rugged aluminium construction.

Cosmetic updates will be a matter of taste, but flooring and upholstery materials also influence cleaning and durability. Buyers comparing the refreshed boat with an earlier R8 should focus on the access, protection and manoeuvring changes as well as the revised colour scheme.
