Main walkway replaced ahead of peak season
The first phase centred on replacing the marina’s roughly 40-year-old main walkway pontoon. Work began in December 2025 with pontoon specialist Walcon Marine, and Premier Marinas says completing the difficult central section ahead of the main boating season was a priority for berth holders.
The new structure also provides a platform for modernised marina services. Management says the replacement has reduced the noise associated with the former walkway while giving customers more robust access to the berths and a better base for subsequent electrical, lighting, water and connectivity improvements.
Dredging forms part of the programme
Alongside the pontoon work, Falmouth Marina has completed the first phase of a dredging campaign around the outer basin. The objective is to improve access as vessels approach and enter the marina, with further dredging expected as the investment programme moves through later stages.
The remaining work is due to include further pontoon replacement and a new gangway from winter 2026. Premier also plans upgrades to electrical points, lighting bollards, water, fuel and connectivity systems, together with landside refurbishment of shared areas including reception facilities.
Investment continues through 2029
Premier Marinas has committed £2 million to the current programme through 2029. The company has owned Falmouth Marina since 1998 and has previously developed boat-lifting areas, dry-stack capacity, additional pontoons and customer facilities at the site.
For visiting and resident leisure boats, the significance is cumulative rather than confined to one new pontoon. Better access, modern shore services and continuing dredging can have a direct effect on day-to-day usability, particularly at a busy marina where berth infrastructure and approach depths matter as much as landside amenities.
