Safety guidance built around everyday situations

The series is produced by Discover Boating, which is powered by NMMA and MRAA, in collaboration with Progressive Insurance. Rather than concentrating on formal classroom-style instruction, the videos use short, accessible formats designed for websites and social channels, with subjects chosen from situations recreational boaters encounter regularly.

The latest rollout includes fishing-safety reminders, practical docking guidance and a boat-ramp dos-and-don’ts episode scheduled for 14 September. A beginner-focused safety episode is also planned for April 2027, timed ahead of the next North American boating season.

Docking and ramps are common pressure points

Docking is one of the areas where new boaters often feel the greatest pressure, particularly in wind, current or a crowded marina. The series aims to reinforce simple preparation and manoeuvring habits rather than treating docking confidence as something that only arrives after years on the water.

Boat ramps are another useful focus because safe launching is partly about seamanship and partly about shared etiquette. Preparation away from the ramp, orderly vehicle and trailer movements and awareness of other users can reduce congestion while also cutting the likelihood of rushed mistakes close to the water.

Resources designed to be shared

Discover Boating is making embeddable versions available through its Industry Resource Center and is encouraging dealers, marinas and other marine businesses to share them through websites, emails, social media and showroom displays. That gives the material a wider role than a single consumer campaign.

For LBG readers, the value is straightforward: short safety resources can complement more detailed training and formal qualifications by keeping routine good practice visible. They are not a substitute for local rules or competent instruction, but they can help reinforce the basic behaviours that make ordinary days afloat safer and less stressful.
