Marine-safety manufacturer Daniamant has introduced five new products for 2026, ranging from lifejacket lights and an electronic visual distress signal to vessel-monitoring equipment. The range was prepared for its SMM 2026 presentation in Hamburg and combines equipment with direct relevance to leisure boaters with products aimed more specifically at commercial and regulated-vessel installations.
For small-craft owners, the most immediately relevant additions are the W4-VIR visible-and-infrared lifejacket light and the ODEO Lux electronic visual distress signal. Both focus on improving the ability of rescuers to locate people or vessels, although suitability still depends on the carriage requirements and regulations applying in the owner’s operating area.
W4-VIR adds infrared detection to a lifejacket light
The W4-VIR combines a conventional visible flashing LED with an infrared LED. Daniamant says the infrared signal can be detected with night-vision equipment at distances of around 2 to 5 kilometres, adding another search channel where rescue teams are equipped to use it.
The light activates automatically in water and also has a manual on/off switch. Daniamant lists MED, MER, SOLAS, US Coast Guard and EASA ETSO-C85b approvals, while modular clip options are intended to make the unit adaptable to different lifejacket installations.
ODEO Lux offers a pyrotechnic-free distress signal
The new ODEO Lux is an electronic visual distress signal based on Daniamant’s existing ODEO SoS platform. It uses red-orange and cyan light output, with optional infrared output, and is designed to produce a 360-degree hemispherical signal rather than relying on a short-duration pyrotechnic flare.
Daniamant describes the unit as RTCM compliant and positions it as a long-duration electronic alternative for visual distress signalling. Boat owners should still check national carriage rules before replacing any required pyrotechnics, because an electronic device is not automatically accepted as a substitute in every jurisdiction or operating category.
A second lifejacket light targets hazardous environments
The W4-EX is an intrinsically safe lifejacket light developed for environments where explosive atmospheres may be present. It uses the compact W4 format, activates automatically in water and is designed to provide high-intensity flashing output for more than eight hours.
That specification is more relevant to specialist and commercial operations than to a typical family runabout, but it shows how survivor-location technology is being adapted for different risk environments rather than treated as a single universal product.
Two vessel-monitoring products complete the launch
The other additions are the SL9005 Salinometer and DanEI-300 electronic inclinometer. The SL9005 monitors salinity in systems such as freshwater generators and marine boilers, while the DanEI-300 has received Wheelmark approval for IMO carriage requirements applying to container ships and bulk carriers.
Those two products sit outside the normal equipment list for most leisure boats, but they complete a five-product safety launch that ranges from personal survival equipment to ship-system monitoring.
