An Italian dayboat comes to Cospicua
Cranchi Yachts is presenting its E26 O/B at the Malta Boat Show in Cospicua, with the event running from 29 October to 1 November 2026. The compact outboard-powered bowrider is appearing alongside the larger A46 Luxury Tender and M44 HT. It is an opportunity for local boaters to compare a manageable dayboat with much larger cruising platforms from the same Italian manufacturer.
The show appearance is significant in a market where short coastal passages, swimming stops and entertaining afloat are central to many owners’ plans. The E26 O/B is not a miniature overnight cruiser. Its design concentrates on an open-air arrangement, access to the water and the ability to change the seating plan according to how the day develops.
An eight-metre package with a distinct purpose
Cranchi lists the E26 O/B at 8.10 metres overall with a 2.49-metre beam. Those dimensions place it firmly among leisure boats that can be considered for regular day use rather than large-yacht operations. The builder offers Mercury outboard propulsion at 300 or 350 horsepower, putting straightforward access to a modern outboard unit at the centre of the design.
The specification should be examined as a complete boat and engine package. A buyer needs to verify the power approved for the specific hull, local registration requirements, berth dimensions and the practical arrangement for lifting or servicing the engine. Overall length alone does not tell the entire story about docking space or the handling characteristics of a fully loaded boat.
A bowrider that can change its layout
The builder describes a pair of opposing sofas along the cockpit sides that can be converted into a larger sunbed. The helm and co-pilot seats can swivel to join the conversation, producing a more sociable area when the vessel is stopped. The open bow gives passengers another place to enjoy the surroundings, provided suitable conditions and the posted operating limits are observed.
That flexibility is more valuable than an elaborate list of equipment if the boat is used for a mixture of swimming, short excursions and afternoons at anchor. Owners should try the actual conversion mechanism and confirm that cushions and movable furniture can be secured properly. The transformation must remain practical when people are carrying bags, lines and ordinary safety equipment.
Useful facilities without a full cabin
Cranchi includes a sink to port of the helm and a heads compartment, features that broaden the E26 O/B’s usefulness on longer day trips. They make the boat more practical for families and groups who might otherwise need frequent stops ashore. The layout remains focused on open-deck use, however, and its facilities should not be confused with those of a full accommodation cruiser.
Visitors should inspect the head space, access, ventilation, storage and fresh-water arrangements in person. Such details can determine whether a compact premium dayboat feels comfortable after several hours afloat. It is also worth examining the placement of handholds, the route to the swim platform and the amount of shade available with the chosen options.
Power choice and the operating environment
The E26 O/B is designed to operate as a day cruiser or a luxury tender. Outboard power can simplify certain routine maintenance tasks, but it does not eliminate winterisation, corrosion control or servicing. The boat’s intended use around Mediterranean islands also brings particular attention to waves, afternoon wind patterns and the availability of safe shelter.
Cranchi publishes different capacity classifications depending on the applicable design category. Customers should read the certification plate and manual for the precise vessel rather than assuming one passenger figure applies in every sea state. Safe boarding, weight distribution and conservative weather decisions matter far more than the maximum power figure on a brochure.
Comparing the E26 with other Malta show boats
The manufacturer’s own exhibition list places the E26 O/B alongside a 46-foot tender and a larger hardtop cruiser. Although all three display the Cranchi name, they address different styles of boating. The E26 is the compact choice for owners interested in easy-to-understand controls, an open cockpit and a relatively simple day on the water, not expansive cabins.
A visit to the show is an opportunity to assess build details that photographs cannot reveal. Look at locker drainage, upholstery access, deck hardware and the movement of passengers between cockpit and bow. A demonstration on the water, if available through an authorised dealer, would provide the best evidence of ride comfort and manoeuvring.
What prospective buyers should establish
The Malta Boat Show listing confirms the E26 O/B’s participation but does not, by itself, establish a local sale price or delivery timetable. Buyers should request a complete written quotation with engine, electronics, transport, commissioning and any taxes clearly identified. They should also confirm after-sales support and the warranty procedure in the jurisdiction where the boat will be based.
For boaters considering a premium but compact craft, the E26 O/B deserves attention because its principal design choices are easy to understand. It prioritises people, seating and access to the sea. Whether it suits a particular owner will depend on berth access, intended coastal range, operating conditions and the family’s preference for an open boat over enclosed accommodation.
