Four motor yachts, two different cruising philosophies
BENETEAU has selected four motor yachts for the Bosphorus Boat Show 2026 at Ataköy Marina in Istanbul: the Gran Turismo 40 Coupe, Gran Turismo 50, Swift Trawler 41 Fly and Swift Trawler 54. The event is scheduled for 17–25 October. The group spans 12.53 to 17.13 metres in overall length, but a length comparison alone misses the point. The Gran Turismo pair favours sociable, sport-oriented express cruising, while the Swift Trawlers put the emphasis on more protected, residential travel. For a buyer considering a first cruiser or moving up to a larger boat, these different priorities are particularly useful to examine side by side.
BENETEAU's official event listing identifies all four models, and its Turkish dealer Tezmarin separately confirms the lineup. The dealer describes the Gran Turismo 40 and 50 as Turkish premieres within a much wider exhibition programme that also includes sailboats, catamarans and other motorboats. Those announcements provide corroboration of the planned display rather than evidence of the show boats' individual equipment, sales or sea-trial performance. The comparison that follows uses the builder's current specifications and design descriptions, not an independently conducted sea trial.
Gran Turismo 40 Coupe: a practical weekend base
The smallest of the four is the Gran Turismo 40 Coupe, with an overall length of 12.53 metres and a beam of 3.68 metres. BENETEAU credits Michael Peters Yacht Design for naval architecture and Andreani Design for design. The boat's role is relatively straightforward: make a day trip enjoyable while offering enough below-deck comfort to turn it into a weekend. An aft cockpit with two L-shaped seating groups and a wet bar creates a social focal point, and the foredeck provides another space to relax away from the bustle aft.
The interior description is especially relevant for owners who may spend the occasional night away. BENETEAU specifies a forward island berth, a convertible midship sleeping area and a separate head and shower. That gives the 40 Coupe more flexibility than a pure open dayboat, although visitors should verify the precise layout, standard equipment and optional features aboard the actual example. For couples, the most revealing inspection may be how easily luggage is stowed, how convenient the galley feels while guests are circulating, and whether access to the side decks works comfortably.
A boat of this size may still carry substantial operating commitments. A prospective owner should look at local marina limits, service access, fuel use at realistic cruising speed and how the boat handles close-quarter manoeuvres. The glossy cockpit photograph does not answer those questions. Nor does a quoted maximum speed reveal the comfort or fuel consumption of the trips an owner will make most often.
Gran Turismo 50: more room for hosting and travel
The 15.95-metre Gran Turismo 50 carries a beam of 4.48 metres. Designed by Andreani Design with Dixon Yacht Design credited as architect, it develops the crossover concept at a larger scale. BENETEAU places particular emphasis on a flexible main-deck plan that is secure while underway and more open and residential at anchor. A protected three-season helm, substantial relaxation areas and circulation paths designed around guests are central to the model's appeal.
One interesting detail is the choice of finishes associated with the standard boat and Alpine-influenced editions. That should prompt buyers to request the exact configuration sheet for any vessel on offer. A brochure can show alternative finishes and equipment that do not all belong to one boat. Owners considering the 50 should also walk through transitions between dining, seating and helm areas with several people moving at once. An arrangement that looks expansive at rest needs to remain practical when the boat is working.
Where the 40 Coupe leans toward quick escapes, the 50 can be viewed as a more substantial platform for entertaining and multi-day cruising. This is an editorial interpretation of BENETEAU's published design, not a performance verdict. The larger boat also occupies a different berthing envelope and may change an owner's annual running costs and handling requirements. A fair comparison must include systems and support as well as the extra accommodation.
Swift Trawler 41 Fly: a different kind of comfort
The Swift Trawler 41 Fly measures 13.43 metres overall, with a 4.25-metre beam. Its trawler-inspired layout offers a more protected way to travel, making the wheelhouse and the connections between deck spaces just as important as the entertainment areas. BENETEAU describes a generously glazed saloon, a protective foredeck arrangement and an upper flybridge that provides an additional steering and seating position. The builder credits Andreani Design for design.
Inside, a U-shaped aft galley meets the cockpit, an arrangement intended to make serving meals and drinks straightforward whether the crew is inside or out. The helm seat can rotate toward the saloon seating, and the main gathering space can adapt for meals and conversation. BENETEAU's published description identifies three cabins and a convertible saloon that can increase sleeping capacity to as many as seven, depending on the exact layout and configuration.
Why might an owner prefer the 41 Fly to a Gran Turismo of comparable length? The appeal lies in extended time aboard, sheltered views and a layout that makes daily routines easier. On a walk-through, it is worth checking visibility from the inside helm, ease of access to mooring lines, steps between decks and the practicality of the galley under way. Those details often shape satisfaction more than a simple comparison of horsepower.
Swift Trawler 54: a longer-stay floating home
At 17.13 metres overall and 4.98 metres of beam, the Swift Trawler 54 is the largest of BENETEAU's listed motor yachts for Istanbul. Dixon Naval Architects is credited with naval design and Andreani Design with design. The builder presents the 54 as an extended-cruising vessel, with three guest cabins, six berths and provision for an additional single crew berth. Its layout aims to make the journey itself comfortable rather than treating the cabin as somewhere to sleep between destinations.
The outdoor equipment helps explain that positioning. BENETEAU describes a spacious flybridge, a foredeck seating area that can convert to sunbathing space, storage for kayaks and paddleboards, and a hydraulic bathing platform equipped for tender handling. Below, a full-beam owner's cabin and bathrooms with separate showers move the experience closer to that of a compact waterside home. Owners should examine both the pleasures and practical obligations of these facilities, particularly maintenance, berth access, shore power and cleaning.
BENETEAU also offers a 'Silent Boat' arrangement using batteries and solar equipment for quieter periods at anchor. The manufacturer mentions up to ten hours of generator-free autonomy in suitable conditions, but such a number depends on the electrical load and installation. Air conditioning, cooking and other demands can materially change the result. Buyers need a written equipment specification and an energy calculation based on how they expect to use the boat, not a generalised promise of silent operation.
What Istanbul's lineup tells prospective owners
The two families overlap enough in size to encourage an honest lifestyle comparison. The Gran Turismo 40 Coupe is an attractive proposition for a couple seeking an express-cruiser weekend base; the Gran Turismo 50 provides more elaborate social and hosting space. The Swift Trawler 41 Fly places greater emphasis on sheltered, manageable family cruising, while the Swift Trawler 54 moves towards extended trips with significant onboard comforts. These descriptions reflect the published concepts, and actual suitability can only be judged against the buyer's needs.
Berthing can be the hidden variable in this decision. Marina allocations take account of length, beam and local manoeuvring space, and a bigger boat can bring higher service and equipment costs. A prudent buyer should ask about the fuel consumption at normal cruise, water and waste capacity, spares availability near their home port, and the exact electrical systems supplied. A test drive should cover close-quarter handling and ordinary cruising, not only acceleration on flat water.
The Bosphorus show setting at Ataköy Marina puts these questions in a practical context. The event organiser YATED and local dealer Tezmarin identify the 17–25 October 2026 exhibition window, although an organiser webpage contains conflicting historical date text. Anyone planning a future edition should always verify ticket dates directly with the organiser. For this year's lineup, the dependable facts are the builder's four named models and the specifications given in its model descriptions.
Rather than treating the four yachts as a ranking, prospective owners can use them as a decision framework. Shortlist two with genuinely different cruising philosophies, request individual build specifications and compare how they work for a typical day with family or guests. The best choice is the one whose spaces and systems remain useful when the boat show is over and the next ordinary cruise begins.
