Bayliner is bringing its all-new V22 Series to European boaters in 2026, extending the replacement for the long-running VR6 platform beyond its original US launch. The family comprises the outboard-powered V22 and sterndrive V22i, both measuring 6.99 metres overall and aimed squarely at the family bowrider and watersports market.
One hull, two propulsion choices
The V22 is configured for outboard propulsion with a maximum rating of 225hp, while the V22i uses an inboard sterndrive package rated to 250hp. Both versions share a 22ft 5in overall length, 8ft 4in beam, 20-degree deadrise and a 45-US-gallon fuel tank.
Passenger capacity is 12 on the outboard boat and 11 on the V22i. Bayliner positions the sterndrive version around a more integrated aft sunpad and swim-platform arrangement, while the outboard model retains the simpler service access and repower flexibility that many family-boat owners prefer.
A wider replacement for the VR6 platform
Bayliner says the V22 Series succeeds the VR6 Bowrider, a model family that sold more than 4,000 units over the previous decade. The redesign adds a wider beam, more storage and a more sculpted hull profile while keeping the boat within a trailerable 21-to-23-foot runabout class.
The V22i layout uses an L-shaped cockpit lounge, twin swivel bucket seats and an aft sunpad with adjustable headrest. In-floor watersports storage, an integrated cooler, self-bailing cockpit and cockpit table are included in the published standard specification, with equipment packages available to add comfort, electronics and tower options.
European launch puts the series in front of new buyers
After the V22 Series was formally unveiled in the United States in June, Bayliner announced a European rollout for the autumn show season. The two models are being promoted for appearances across several European exhibitions, giving buyers the chance to compare the outboard and sterndrive layouts directly rather than choosing from specifications alone.
For European owners, the 6.99-metre length is significant because it keeps the boats within a manageable size for family day boating while offering the seating and storage Bayliner previously concentrated in the VR6. The final choice between V22 and V22i is likely to come down less to headline horsepower than to preferred transom layout, maintenance approach and watersports use.
Current pricing reflects 2027 model-year production
Bayliner’s US website currently lists the V22i from $59,994 and the V22 from $56,094, with current pricing identified as model- and market-dependent through the company’s sales channels. European pricing will vary with engines, packages, tax and local dealer specification.
Leisure Boat Guide will treat the V22 and V22i as one model-family story rather than separate launches because their hull platform and market positioning are closely related.
