Brunswick Corporation has announced a planned leadership transition that will put Aine Denari in the chief executive role from 1 January 2027. David Foulkes, currently executive chairman and chief executive, is due to retire from the company at the end of 2026.

Denari is currently executive vice president, president of Navico Group and Brunswick's chief technology officer. She will also join the Brunswick board when she becomes chief executive, while lead independent director David Everitt is set to become non-executive chairman.

A major recreational-boating portfolio

The change matters well beyond corporate governance because Brunswick owns or controls brands used throughout everyday recreational boating. Its portfolio includes Mercury Marine, Navico Group electronics businesses and boat brands serving fishing, cruising, watersports and family boating markets.

Decisions at group level can therefore influence propulsion, electronics, connected-boat technology, manufacturing and dealer strategy across a large part of the under-12m sector. That makes the transition relevant to Leisure Boat Guide even though Brunswick itself is not a boat model.

Denari moves from Navico Group

Denari's current responsibilities combine marine electronics leadership with a group-wide technology role. Navico Group includes a range of electronic and digital systems used on small recreational craft, so her appointment brings a technology-focused background into Brunswick's top executive position.

The company has not presented the transition as an immediate change of strategy for individual brands. Owners and buyers should therefore distinguish the confirmed leadership appointments from any future product or portfolio decisions that have not yet been announced.

Transition scheduled for the new year

Foulkes remains in his existing role through the end of 2026 under the announced plan. Denari's appointment and Everitt's move to non-executive chairman both take effect on the first day of 2027.

The months before the handover will provide time for an orderly transition across a complex global marine business. Leisure Boat Guide will follow subsequent announcements where they materially affect recreational boats, engines or equipment in the sub-12m market.
