A high-output addition to ACR’s searchlight range
ACR Electronics has expanded its marine lighting range with the RCL-200 LED, a searchlight built around 12 high-intensity LEDs and a claimed peak beam output of 720,000 candelas. The unit is aimed at medium-to-large recreational boats as well as commercial vessels, giving owners another solid-state alternative to older halogen searchlights.
The housing is die-cast aluminium and the light supports both 12V and 24V DC systems, which broadens the range of boats on which it can be installed. ACR also specifies continuous 360-degree rotation and a long-range spot beam, making the product relevant to night navigation, harbour approaches and search situations.
Control options are a major part of the upgrade
The RCL-200 can be operated from a wired point pad or a handheld wireless remote, allowing the beam to be positioned away from the helm when needed. A return-to-home function brings the light back to a forward-facing position, while two searchlights can be controlled independently or together in more complex installations.
For owners upgrading older lighting systems, those controls may be as important as raw light output. Modern marine electronics increasingly reduce the number of separate control boxes and dedicated helm hardware, so ACR’s simplified architecture fits the wider move toward cleaner installations.
Why it matters on leisure boats
A searchlight is not essential equipment on every small leisure boat, but it becomes far more useful for owners who routinely return after dark or operate around unlit shorelines and moorings. Powerful directional lighting can help identify buoys, harbour structures and people in the water without relying entirely on deck lights or handheld torches.
