Nautique has completely redesigned the Super Air Nautique S23 for 2027 around a new hull, revised interior and expanded wake and surf capability. The 23ft model is rated for 16 people and has a published dry weight of 5,700lb.
The redesign is intended to broaden the boat’s operating range from beginner watersports to more advanced wake and surf use. Nautique has also moved more optional ballast below the floor so additional weight does not consume the same storage areas used for everyday gear.
Supplemental ballast moves below the floor
The S23 can be specified with 1,100lb of supplemental ballast positioned midships beneath the floor. Nautique says the arrangement is intended to preserve storage while providing additional weight when the normal passenger load is not enough for the desired wake or surf setup.
The Nautique Surf System and Configurable Running Surface then manage water flow and running attitude. As with any high-ballast towboat, owners still need to stay within certified loading limits and understand how additional weight affects handling and draft.
Petrol and diesel engine choices are available
The standard direct-injection PCM ZZ5 is a 5.3-litre petrol engine, while optional PCM units extend to the supercharged ZZ8S with 630hp and 665ft-lb of torque. Nautique also offers the Yanmar 8LV diesel with 370hp and 595ft-lb.
The diesel option is notable in a segment dominated by petrol inboards because it offers high torque at lower engine speeds. It will not suit every owner, and fuel availability, purchase cost, servicing and the normal operating environment all need to be considered.
Helm and access systems are also revised
The 2027 S23 receives a redesigned dashboard, optional actuated helm seat and a new Steering Assist Throttle Control for low-speed manoeuvring. A Manual Swim Terrace can also extend from beneath the platform to create a lower step into the water.
For LBG readers, the S23 is a strong example of current wake-boat development moving beyond pure wave size. The 2027 changes focus equally on storage, docking assistance, access to the water and giving owners more propulsion choices within the same 23ft platform.
