Kawasaki has added a dedicated tow-sports model to its 2027 personal-watercraft range with the Jet Ski Ultra 160LX-S Wakesport. The model uses the naturally aspirated 1,498cc in-line four-cylinder engine but adds equipment specifically for towing wakeboarders and other riders.
The Wakesport is configured for two people rather than the three-person seating used on several other Ultra models. That leaves more of the rear deck and equipment package focused on the rider being towed and the crew supporting the session.
Wake Mode and launch control are built in
Kawasaki includes a dedicated Wake Mode within the power-selection system, along with launch control, electric trim and adjustable electronic cruise control. Those systems are intended to make repeated starts and tow speeds easier to reproduce.
The craft also retains Kawasaki Smart Reverse with Deceleration and Smart Steering. A rear-view camera and one-touch 5mph mode add useful control around docks and during low-speed manoeuvring.
Tow hardware is factory fitted
The Wakesport includes a wake pylon with integrated rope storage and a built-in wakeboard rack. Those additions make the model more purpose-specific than a conventional PWC that depends on aftermarket tow hardware.
Kawasaki pairs the tow equipment with a two-passenger sports seat and the Ultra deck's multi-mount rails. Storage remains available for everyday gear, while the board rack keeps a bulky wakeboard off the seat and footwells.
Touring hull with a watersports brief
The craft uses Kawasaki's 22.5-degree deep-V Ultra hull, so the underlying platform still prioritises stability and rough-water capability. The Wakesport package changes how that platform is used rather than creating an entirely separate hull design.
The new 2027 model carries a listed US base MSRP of $19,699 before destination and other charges. Buyers should verify local rules governing PWC towing because observer requirements and operating restrictions differ between jurisdictions.
