The 2000 Class Association has voted to adopt RS branding as part of the class identity, with newly produced boats to be known as the RS2000. The decision followed a committee vote in April 2026 and was announced by manufacturer RS Sailing in July.
RS Sailing acquired the build ownership and manufacturing rights for the 2000 in 2013. The company says it has spent the following thirteen years producing boats and working with the class association to support owners, events and continued development.
The double-handed dinghy is used across several parts of the leisure-sailing market. It has an established racing fleet, while also being used by families and training organisations because of its stability and straightforward handling.
The branding change brings the class name into line with the manufacturer that now builds it without changing the fundamental role of the boat.
