A Compact Day Cruiser Makes a Café and a Swim a Complete Summer Outing

A little day cruiser can be the right size for a holiday built around only two stops: a waterside café and a sheltered swimming place. The Yamarin 60 DC offers an example with a cabin for two, social cockpit seating and easy access to its bathing platforms.

Arrange the first stop

A café visit works when a legal visitor berth or suitable landing is available close to the destination. Check harbour hours, speed rules and the walking route rather than assume a waterfront table implies a place to tie up.

Yamarin lists a 6.06-metre length and 2.22-metre beam for the 60 DC, but the actual load and propulsion must be checked on its builder plate. A compact boat still needs the right berth.

Keep the cockpit social

The manufacturer describes five-person social seating and a small cabin, allowing passengers to alternate time outside with shelter and dry storage. The nominal six-person capacity is not a promise that every combination of bags and people will be comfortable.

Stow food, towels and loose objects away from the helm and boarding route. Guests should return to safe seats before the boat moves.

Choose a supervised swim

A protected authorised location and suitable water conditions come before convenience. Stop and secure propulsion, check the boat's ladder and keep a person responsible for watching the group.

A bathing platform is useful but does not make every swimmer able to reboard without help. Have a recovery plan and end the swim before anyone becomes cold or tired.

Leave room for the return

Fuel, weather and available daylight matter more than stretching a short outing into another destination. Keep water and a spare layer aboard in case the café stop takes longer than expected.
