The second-generation Dacia Spring offers up to 250km WLTP range, simple charging, a wider body and a practical focus on everyday electric use.
Dacia has launched the second-generation Spring with a wider body, more interior space and a 250km WLTP range. The small electric car remains focused on everyday use, with simple charging options and enough range for commuting, local errands and short leisure trips.
A wider body creates more usable interior space
The new Spring is 18cm wider than the previous generation, giving it a more planted stance and creating additional cabin room. Dacia has also redesigned the dashboard and storage areas around a simple, functional layout.
For everyday leisure use, that extra space matters more than dramatic styling. A small EV becomes more useful when passengers, bags and ordinary weekend gear fit without turning every journey into a packing exercise.
250km range matches the way most owners use the car
Dacia says the 27.5kWh usable LFP battery provides up to 250km of WLTP combined range. The company notes that existing Spring owners typically cover modest daily distances, so the new model has been developed around realistic urban and suburban use rather than maximum battery size.
That makes it well suited to short coastal trips, local marinas and everyday errands. It is not intended as a long-distance grand tourer, but a 250km operating window is enough for many routine leisure journeys.
Charging is designed to stay straightforward
A 6.6kW AC charger is standard, allowing the Spring to charge from 15% to 80% in around 2 hours 55 minutes on a 7kW wallbox. An optional fast-charge pack adds 11kW AC and 50kW DC capability, with a quoted 15% to 80% DC time of 28 minutes.
The important point is that owners do not need specialist high-power equipment for normal use. Home charging remains the simplest option, while faster public charging is available when longer journeys require it.
The appeal remains affordability and simplicity
The new Spring uses an 80hp electric motor and keeps the focus on low-stress driving, compact dimensions and easy manoeuvrability. Dacia has avoided turning the model into a more expensive technology showcase.
For LBG readers, that is the strongest part of the proposition. It is a small, practical EV aimed at ordinary life, with enough range for local leisure travel and a simple ownership model that should appeal to drivers who value usefulness over prestige.
