Hedley Studios has created an electric reinterpretation of the Porsche 550 Spyder, officially licensed by Porsche. The 550 J is planned as a series of 250 handcrafted examples.
Its inspiration comes from a celebrated 1950s racer, but the modern product is not a newly restored original. Its construction and intended use need to be assessed as a separate vehicle.
A history behind the shape
The historic 550 took a class win and third overall in the 1954 Carrera Panamericana. The result helped give the Carrera name its place in Porsche history.
The reimagined car draws on that distinctive form without repeating the competition results. Heritage cues should not be confused with modern performance figures.
