BMW M Team WRT has recorded its first North American IMSA victory with the M Hybrid V8, alongside a Turner Motorsport GTD win.
A first win for the team

BMW M Team WRT won the Indianapolis Battle on the Bricks with its M Hybrid V8. Dries Vanthoor and Sheldon van der Linde secured the overall victory in the two-hour, 40-minute event.
The race formed part of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. BMW describes it as the team’s first North American victory with this programme.
A decisive late move
Vanthoor started from third and van der Linde gained the lead near the finish. The result converted earlier podium appearances into a win for the WRT squad.
The companion #25 BMW M Hybrid V8 finished tenth. That contrast illustrates how separate crews can experience very different races in the same machinery.
Another result in GTD
Turner Motorsport also won the GTD category with its #96 BMW M4 GT3 EVO. Robby Foley and Patrick Gallagher shared the winning car in that class.
The GTD result is separate from the overall prototype victory and should be recorded as such. BMW’s official report covers both outcomes.
A weekend for race followers
The two victories make Indianapolis a notable recent event for BMW’s sports-car programme. Performance-car owners can follow the technologies and crews without conflating racing and road specifications.
