Henri-Lloyd will supply technical marine clothing to Scaramouche Sailing Trust as the charity creates sailing opportunities for young people from diverse backgrounds.
Henri-Lloyd has formed an official partnership with Scaramouche Sailing Trust, a UK charity using sailing to create opportunities for young people from diverse backgrounds. The clothing brand will support the programme with donated technical marine apparel as well as base layers, mid-layers and lifestyle pieces for sailors and coaches.
The partnership connects clothing with participation in a practical way rather than treating apparel only as fashion. Good kit can remove a real barrier when young sailors need to stay warm, dry and comfortable through training days in variable weather.
Scaramouche works through a London school
The trust works with Greig City Academy, a state secondary school in north London, to introduce students to sailing and the wider opportunities around it. Its programmes aim to build confidence and life skills as well as create routes towards employment that participants may not otherwise have encountered.
That model is important because sailing can look distant from everyday life for young people who do not grow up near clubs or boating families. Structured school links make the first contact much easier and give students a group of peers with whom to learn.
Clothing can be part of access
Technical sailing kit is expensive when a participant is still deciding whether the sport is for them. Donated inventory can reduce that initial burden while allowing coaches to specify clothing suited to the conditions rather than asking families to improvise.
The support also extends to layers that can be used away from the boat, which makes each garment more useful. For a young sailor travelling to training or regattas, versatile clothing can reduce the amount of specialist equipment needed.
Partnerships should create more time afloat
The strongest brand partnerships in grassroots boating are those that make participation easier rather than simply adding logos to an event. In this case, the measure of value is whether more young people are properly equipped and able to keep attending sessions.
For LBG, that is a useful reason to cover clothing alongside boats and watersports. Apparel becomes part of the lifestyle story when it directly affects comfort, confidence and the ability to stay active on the water.
